GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL VISIT CANNABIS SOCIAL CLUB

Delegates of the North West agriculture and health departments and Cannabis Development Council of North West recently visited Hartbeespoort's cannabis social club, Die Joint, for an educational workshop on cannabis.
Following the Constitutional judgment in 2018 decriminalising cannabis for personal use in South Africa, Die Joint Koffehuis & Kwekery was opened in Broederstroom. During his State of the Nation address President Ramaphosa called for the acceleration of cannabis commercialisation, and North West Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Desbo Mohono encouraged local farmers and manufacturers to start applying for hemp permits. A hemp permit office was set up in Hartbeespoort supporting local farmers with licencing and other matters in the cannabis industry.
According to Daniel Neethling of Die Joint, they were requested to host the delegates for an educational exhibition of the full lifecycle of the cannabis plant. "We held a walk and talk through the entire life cycle of the plant; from seed and clone, through vegging and flowering, to harvesting, drying, curing, to tracking and testing, and we finished of with a demonstration to extract the medicine from the plant and ultimately mixing it into a useable safe full spectrum oil," he said.
"The future of Cannabis is bright in the North West, it has the potential to uplift our province and our communities. Cannabis is bringing life and investment back to our area..
